Willard Fire Protection District

Communications System

The Willard Fire Dept has an excellent Dispatch and  Two Way radio system. When a call for service comes in to the County funded 911 center in Springfield MO, the call is sent to the fire dispatcher,  which sends out the call to the Willard Firemen and to the Willard Fire Stations.  They then receive the call on the new 800 MHz Trunking Radio System or on the Frequency of 154.400 MHz.

All the Firemen carry a Minitor 11 Motorola Pager or a Vertex VX 180 VHF Radio.

At the Fire Station in Willard, the Department has a 80 Ft. Communications Tower. This tower gives good height for the District's Repeater system. This Radio system has a service area of 99% with low power handheld radio and can  talk across the County using 50 watt mobile radios in cars and trucks.

The Willard Fire Dept. uses the Kenwood line of radios for the Apparatus. Engine 1 and Engine 3 have the TK 730 Vhf units.  The Rescue, Trucks and the Grass fire rigs have the TK 760 and the TK 760G Vhf Radios. The TK 760G Radios give the Department the ability to send out  paging tones for the Willard Department .

Greene County has just put on line a new 800 MHz Trunking Radio system. The radios that are being used for this system, in the fire service are the Motorola MCS 2000 I mobile radio and the MTS 2000 Model 1 Flash port portable radio.

The Repeater Willard has on line is a VR7000 Vertex Repeater. This Repeater can also double as a base station.  It has a 16 channel capacity, with 50 watts of transmit Power at 100% duty cycle. The system is using Wacom duplexers.  The duplexers are used, so the repeater can transmit and receive on the same antenna at the same time. The duplexers  also serve as an rf filter. The FCC requires all transmissions to be exactly on the assigned frequency.
